2020 Baseball Season Update as of April 2

As of April 2, 2020, there has been no formal announcement from Baseball Canada or Baseball Manitoba on the upcoming season. Portage Minor Baseball will be following guidance from these two governing bodies as well as government and health officials on whether a season will happen.
At this point, we are holding onto hope that some kind of season, potentially abbreviated, will happen. Of course, that will only be a possibility if our communities stay home when possible and practice social distancing to help flatten the curve.
We will update our membership as soon as we know anything. That being said: 

• registration IS still open. If you want to sign up your little MLB'er, please do so.
• all cheques have been placed on hold until a decision is made. 
• if paying by e-transfer, please do not send payments, we will contact you if your payment is owing if the season happens.
• anyone who has paid already will get a refund if the season doesn't happen.
• there is a possibility of baseball being played in the summer. If this is the case, we will notify the membership and make decisions based on interest.

We are hopeful our members are following rules, staying home, and only spending time with those people inside their homes. We are also hopeful that the kids will get to play ball this year as we all need something to look forward to.
